About
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or weighed down by pain, I'm here to offer compassionate, evidence-based support in a safe space where healing and hope can begin.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 4 years of experience providing individual and group counseling in community mental health, both inpatient and outpatient. I've supported clients with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self-esteem, and relationship issues. I create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore challenges, reconnect with themselves, and begin moving toward clarity, healing, and meaningful change.
I earned my Master's in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University. I use evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive processing therapy for trauma to help clients identify and shift patterns that may be keeping them stuck.
My clients are met with warmth, respect, and non-judgment. I take a strength-based, solution-focused approach, walking alongside clients as they navigate difficult times. Whether struggling to feel like themselves, managing overwhelming emotions, or seeking guidance, clients find support and the possibility of healing.

Tatrina Bailey-Josephs is a Licensed Professional Counselor, who specializes in helping children, adults, and families find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole, and safe. Tatrina has 14 years of experience in the mental health field, working as a counselor, coach, and administrator in trauma-informed care for individuals experiencing trauma, behavioral, and emotional issues.
Tatrina completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Criminal Justice at Walden University and her Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling at Prairie View A&M University. She realizes how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their wellbeing, including their physical health, support systems (family, friends, etc.), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality. Tatrina is concerned with the impact of loss and trauma and improving interventions to support trauma recovery for better emotional, physical, and relationship health.
Tatrina’s goal as a counselor is to provide a safe environment where you can explore your primary interests, develop goals, and determine strengths and assets as you move toward your aspirations. She believes in working in partnership to utilize your strengths to help you sort out your challenges and achieve your goals. Tatrina knows that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so she uses a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Gestalt therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and psychodrama to individuals aged 13 and up. Tatrina’s hope is to help individuals who have the motivation to improve and the courage to seek growth through vulnerability and hard work.

Admittedly, there will be gray areas. When in doubt, it helps to check with someone else and describe the events as clearly as you can remember. You can call, chat, or text someone 24/7 at the national relationship hotline, LoveIsRespect.org.
No matter why it happens, this kind of emotional abuse can impact a person for a lifetime, until they address it and heal from it. Counseling may help you in many different areas:
Let’s dive into an example:
So when you notice this mental filter, challenge it. Haven’t you had friends who liked you and were there for you? That shows there are good people out there for you, and that you’ve been lovable and worthy. When in doubt, check in with other people – think of what you’ve heard people talk about from their own lives, or touch base with one now. You can catch this negativity before it makes you anxious, depressed, or angry about it, and you’ll be glad that you did.
If you find that you need additional support to manage the emotional abuse in your life, please reach out to an experienced Thriveworks therapist at 281-667-9790. You can thrive and we can help!
