About
I believe therapy is a collaborative journey of healing, and I strive to offer an inclusive, gentle, and tailored space where both adults and children feel empowered to grow and thrive.
I'm Nargis Ali, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master of Arts in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling. I believe we all have unique strengths that help us navigate life's challenges. Seeking support through counseling is one way to rediscover and foster them. Since 2016, I have worked with both children and adults facing challenges like anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, and life transitions. My clients seek to build practical coping strategies, process painful experiences, or find emotional balance. My goal is to collaborate with you to create a secure path toward healing and personal growth.
My approach is collaborative and integrative, drawing from CBT, DBT, ACT, and Family therapy to meet your unique needs. You can expect a gentle, nonjudgmental space where we target specific goals, process trauma, and develop practical coping skills. Together, we will build on your strengths to help you navigate transitions and find lasting relief.
Taking the first step toward therapy is a courageous act of self-care. Wherever you are on your path, please know you do not have to walk it alone. I am here to support you with compassion, understanding, and respect. When you are ready to begin your healing journey, I invite you to connect with me and schedule your first session.

My go-to approach for helping people in couples/marriage counseling is to build rapport with the couple. I want both individuals to feel safe in knowing that I will be partial throughout this process. I find the best benefit in each individual providing their own perspective in each situation because this will allow their partners to know where they are coming from.
I teach the following tools in couples/marriage counseling:
I know a client is making meaningful progress in couples/marriage counseling when a client is able to make couples therapy a priority and are practicing their new skills when in conflict with their partner.
Clients can supplement their time in couples/marriage counseling with using and implementing exercises learned, use worksheets as a script, and do homework assigned
To prepare for your first couples/marriage counseling session, you can have an open mind, be truthful and ask questions about the process.
Couples therapy and marriage counseling, also known as relationship counseling, helps couples work through their specific relationship issues. Some examples of common focuses within couples therapy and marriage counseling include:
The types of therapy used in couples and marriage counseling include:
At Thriveworks, Couples/marriage therapy is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples.
The Gottman Method of couples therapy is a research-supported approach designed to enhance relationships by bolstering the bond between partners, resolving conflicts, and fostering shared meaning in their relationship through comprehensive assessments and tailored interventions that improve communication, trust, and the overall health of the partnership.
If you’re facing persistent relationship problems, communication breakdowns, or unresolved conflicts that are impacting your emotional well-being and happiness, Couples/marriage therapy may be beneficial for you.
While marriage and couple’s counseling is typically recommended for couples who are experiencing persistent or severe relationship issues, any relationship can benefit from attending these sessions.
Marriage and couples counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend marriage and couples counseling for 12 weeks. However, couples & marriage counseling may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
