About
As a neurodivergent therapist, I understand the unique challenges that can come with dayto-day functioning.
I'm an LPC with 8 years of behavioral health experience. My main goal is to help clients find relief and growth in a safe, open, and supportive environment. I work extensively with children and adults, specializing in anxiety, depression, DMDD, adjustment disorders, and trauma. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I provide practical tools to help you understand thought patterns and build healthy coping skills. Whether your child struggles with emotional regulation or you are navigating a difficult transition, we will work collaboratively toward healing.
In my practice, I blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Working together, you can expect to focus on adjusting your thoughts to improve your behaviors and emotions, while honestly exploring the reality of your choices in a supportive environment. No matter what challenges you or your child are facing, you do not have to carry them alone. Taking the first step can be hard, but I am here to walk alongside you with compassion and support. Please reach out today; let's start building your path to healing together.

My go-to approach for helping people in teen counseling is motivational interviewing. I prefer motivational interviewing because it empowers the teenager and allows them to give their perspective and needs.
I teach the following tools in teen counseling:
I know a client is making meaningful progress in teen counseling when they show motivation for the future and they demonstrate resilience with school, tests, and the sometimes hard social environment of that age group.
Clients can supplement their time in teen counseling with family counseling, workbooks, and social activities such as sports and volunteer work to increase confidence.
To prepare for their first teen counseling session, a teen can journal about their thoughts and emotions, write a letter to their therapist, and/or create a vision board or life experience timeline in order to increase insight into the past or increase insight for making goals for the future.
Teen counseling helps young individuals better understand and manage the challenges that affect their mental health. Common challenges amongst teens include anxiety, depression, ADHD, and problematic relationships with food.
Teen counseling works by using multiple techniques, tailored to fit the teen’s unique needs — based on their age group, their challenges, and the severity of their challenges. It might involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, art therapy, and others for varying ages. In any case, Thriveworks teen therapists in Maumelle have the expertise and experience to help young individuals at their level.
Signs that teens might need Teen counseling can be very subjective, as they are experiencing many changes and can have intense reactions to them. As parents, you know your child best and are best equipped to judge whether certain reactions are standard behaviors for your teen or whether they might be hinting at a larger problem. Even so, there are a few common signs and events that often point to a need for therapy, such as experiencing divorce or loss, grief, consistent low moods, teens distancing themselves and becoming isolated, losing interest in hobbies, excessive anger or irritability, substance use issues, and suicidal ideation, among others.
Teen counseling providers at Thriveworks in Maumelle, AR offer both in person and online therapy by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of teen counseling depends on your teen’s needs as well as the goals that you and their therapist might have for them. Generally, teen counseling sessions will last for several months.
