About
I can be my greatest asset or my greatest liability; and I get to choose.
I’m Dr. Sam Heastie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and educational psychologist with more than 20 years of experience helping adults and couples navigate anxiety, chronic stress, depression, trauma, grief, relationship conflict, and life transitions. I often work with clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected, or unsure how to move forward, and who want practical support, deeper insight, and healthier ways to cope, connect, and grow.
My style is warm, collaborative, and purposeful. I use a client-centered approach that blends practical skill-building, insight-oriented reflection, psychoeducation, and relationship-focused work. Clients can expect a safe, affirming space, clear goals, and support that is compassionate, structured, and paced to their needs.
You do not have to carry stress, pain, or uncertainty alone. Therapy can be a place to feel understood, regain clarity, and begin making meaningful change. When you are ready, I invite you to take the next step and schedule an appointment.

As an experienced clinical psychologist, I value building genuine connections with clients and helping them understand how their life experiences shape the way they see themselves and the world.
I am a licensed psychologist (LP) with 23 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked in a wide range of settings, including inpatient psychiatric units, sexual assault treatment centers, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. I specialize in supporting adults living with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use concerns, and psychotic disorders, with a focus on helping each client navigate their unique challenges.
I earned my doctorate in psychology from Nova Southeastern University. My work is grounded in a cognitive behavioral framework, and I tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. While traditional talk therapy may be effective for some, I also incorporate humor, activity, and flexibility when those approaches better support engagement and progress.
I believe therapy should feel supportive, collaborative, and personalized. I look forward to getting to know you through the therapeutic process and helping you work toward meaningful change. Together, we will focus on practical strategies, insight, and growth—with a touch of lightheartedness along the way—to support your mental health goals.

Marriage counseling, also known as couples therapy and relationship counseling, helps couples work through their specific relationship issues. Thriveworks marriage counseling in Coral Springs, FL is led by licensed professionals — often licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) — who are experts in their field and best-equipped to help couples. Marriage counseling works by helping couples identify and better navigate their unique challenges. Following an initial assessment of the couple in terms of strengths and needs, the therapist would then discuss their therapeutic goals and any possible approaches or ways of working together as therapist and couple.Couples attend sessions together, whether they meet in person or by video. In addition to regular marriage counseling sessions, each partner may also be asked to attend a few individual sessions to supplement their progress. This will allow their counselor to get to know each individual better, assess each of their personal needs, and develop the very best treatment plan moving forward.
Marriage counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend marriage counseling for 12 weeks.
