About
My own life experiences as well as my experience working in hospitals has helped me to have tremendous variety with many different age groups and populations, and I will be your personal coach to help you obtain your goals.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have spent several years in acute and rehab hospital settings, as well as a therapy practice. I have experience with all age groups, individuals, couples, and families. I have learned each of us has our own unique story and sometimes there are challenges we do not expect, or we realize we want to take the next chapter in a different direction. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, clarity and confidence.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths based. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychoeducation are some of the therapy approaches we may use, depending upon individual needs.
Whether you are coping with anxiety, adjusting to a life change such as divorce or a health condition, or working through trauma or grief, I am here to help you learn new coping skills and strengthen your resilience. Healing begins in a safe and supportive environment, where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Let's get started!

My personal experience with trauma and loss was the catalyst for a major career change and was completely life altering. From there, I was drawn to a profession in healing. It has given me an authentic understanding of how we are impacted by painful life experiences and the ability to connect with my clients on a meaningful level. My own experiences have made me resilient, something that I wish for is to support my clients in empowerment, and to find their own resilience along the healing journey.
I am glad you are here. I'm Marissa, an LCSW with over a decade of clinical experience in mental health. I graduated from NYU's Silver School of Social Work in 2016 with honors. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in law serving underserved populations, but found it difficult to make the impact I wanted, so I pivoted to this more balanced career. I bring knowledge of modalities like psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, DBT, and CBT, along with a broad lens on systems from my law background. I am warm, relational, and love seeing my clients make progress. You will have my undivided attention and a safe space in every session.
My areas of focus include addiction—I've worked in detox, inpatient, and outpatient programs, and served as Clinical Director for two outpatient programs. Addiction and mental health often go hand-in-hand, so I treat both concurrently. I use EMDR for trauma, CBT and DBT for emotion regulation, and a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic approach in sessions.
Please do not hesitate to take this step with me. You will feel safe, heard, seen, assured, and positive in the initial session and following. I invite you to reach out and start your journey with me.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

Infidelity counseling is a specialized therapeutic approach designed for couples grappling with the aftermath of one or more partner’s infidelity. It offers a nurturing and non-judgmental environment where both individuals can delve into the underlying reasons behind the breach of trust, openly express their feelings, and collaboratively strive to mend their relationship. The overarching objective of infidelity counseling is to either facilitate a path to reconciliation, should both partners desire it, or guide them through the process of separation or divorce with clarity and empathy.
Infidelity counseling combines various therapeutic techniques, such as individual and couples therapy, cognitive behavioral approaches for changing destructive thought patterns, communication skills training for conflict resolution, Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) to rebuild trust, narrative therapy to reframe relationship narratives, and mindfulness practices for managing intense emotions. These methods work together to foster self-awareness, emotional healing, and the reconstruction of trust, leading to a healthier, more resilient relationship.
Infidelity counseling at Thriveworks Nashville, TN is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The number of sessions needed for infidelity counseling can greatly vary based on the specific needs of the individuals or couples involved and the complexity of the issues being addressed. Adultery is a painful word. It summons up images of broken marriages and unhappy families and overall despair. When adultery and infidelity occur in a marriage or in a relationship, they occur always as part of an overall problem, often one that has been in the making for many years. It doesn’t just happen out of the blue for no reason whatsoever. Counseling for adultery can help couples find out exactly what went wrong in their relationships which ended up in one partner or the other being unfaithful. If you need counseling for infidelity, consider reaching out to Thriveworks Counseling in Nashville, TN. We are here to help.
The root cause of unfaithfulness in a relationship is unhappiness stemming from neglect or a lack of understanding anymore between the spouses. The relationship has “gone stale,” sex is rare and/or uninspiring, and loneliness and despair are setting in within the boundaries of the relationship. This is a prime breeding ground for an affair.
What infidelity does, though, is brutal. Those seeking counseling for adultery say that the following are some of the prime effects of unfaithfulness:
All these feelings come from being betrayed and are very natural. However, they can be overwhelming and consuming without counseling for infidelity, which can put them into perspective.
For couples that have gone through adultery and want to stick together and work things out, counseling for infidelity is strongly recommended. It’s not easy and can be tough and painful, but being brutally honest about the relationship with an independent professional can really clear the air for the future. A good counselor will:
There are many other ways that a counselor can help your marriage, especially if affected by adultery. But the most important thing is that YOU and your spouse need to want it to work as well. If you are living with infidelity at the moment but want your relationship to work, please think about counseling for infidelity and give us a call. We offer evening and weekend sessions, in-person and online care, same-week appointments, and many additional benefits.
