I am a registered clinical social worker intern (RCSWI) with 3 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s most challenging moments. I specialize in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, grief support, anxiety, depression, and helping clients strengthen communication and relationships. My work centers on creating meaningful, sustainable personal growth through practical, evidence-based strategies.

My approach blends trauma-informed care with cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing to meet you where you are. I create a supportive, collaborative space where you can explore challenges and build the skills needed for lasting change.
Starting therapy is a courageous choice, and you deserve a space that feels safe, warm, and validating. My approach is rooted in strengths-based and compassion-focused care. I believe in tailoring each therapeutic experience to honor your unique identity, values, and goals. My clinical framework integrates evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, positive psychology, and creative therapeutic techniques to support your journey toward healing and growth.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel daunting, but I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space where you can gain insight, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward meaningful change. My go-to approach for helping people in family therapy is solution focused brief therapy. I prefer solution focused brief therapy because with SFBT families are asked to draw on their past successes, strengths, and resources to create their desired future. I have seen the effectiveness of a positive approach.
In family therapy with solution focused brief therapy, I help you develop tools and skills, based on your current strengths, that you can use moving forward. These tools and skills may help you:
I know a client is making meaningful progress in family therapy when they see themselves and their family as capable, strong, and wise. A client also is making meaningful progress when they can see a way toward their goals or begin taking action toward their goals. Most of all, I know a client is making meaningful progress in family therapy when they are experiencing hope. With family therapy, change can often be seen directly in the therapy sessions.
Clients can supplement their time in family therapy with keeping an eye out for when their problems are less present or gone altogether. The family can then identify what is different about these times, and do more of what is already working. Each client can “catch your family member doing something right” and thank them.
To prepare for their first family therapy session, an individual can think about what is bringing them to therapy. Why now? If you have done therapy before, what worked best for you? What are your hopes and fears about therapy? You can also think about your goals for therapy. What would you like to be different in your family as a result of the therapy? Don't forget to bring a list of your current medications.
Family therapy helps families resolve conflicts and strengthen their relationships. It is led by qualified mental health professionals like psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPCs), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) who have extensive training in family dynamics and group communication.
Thriveworks family therapists in Maitland, FL usually begin by asking what everyone’s goals are for family counseling. Family members may need help with very specific issues or with general relationship functioning. But there are three main purposes in family counseling: to educate, to counsel, and to strengthen. Thriveworks also offers online family therapy and in-person services, so you may all meet in an office together or join a video call from your home depending on everyone’s location and availability.
The most effective form of Family therapy will often depend on the family itself, as there are many types of family therapy for therapists to use as they see fit in order to best meet the needs of their clients. However, one of the most commonly used types of family therapy is structural family therapy (SFT). SFT focuses specifically on family dynamics and interactions, looking at how they shape the relationships and structure present in the family. It can be effectively used to treat a variety of concerns.
This answer often looks different to each family that starts family therapy. However, some signs that your family might need to consider family counseling include frequent fights or misunderstandings, constant tension, experiencing loss, behavioral issues, marital issues, divorce, and blended family issues, among others.
In family therapy, therapists will often start by asking questions and assessing individual and family dynamics. From there, they may employ therapeutic techniques such as structured family therapy, CBT, strategic family therapy, and more depending on the present concerns and conflicts. From there, a therapist will work to open lines of communication between family members and facilitate emotional healing and growth.
Family therapy can be incredibly successful, with some studies reporting a success rate of almost 90% for improving participants’ emotional and mental health, and around 66% for improving their physical health.
Thriveworks therapists in Maitland, FL offer both online family therapy and in-person family therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
Family therapy is usually short term and solution-focused, with most families accomplishing their goals in 12 sessions or fewer. However, it can also last for longer if the probles at hand are more complex — and that’s okay, too.
