Having lived experience with trauma, loss, and complex family relationships—including being a forever mother and part of a military family—I know what it’s like when life reshapes you and understand the courage it takes to rebuild and heal.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 12 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in supporting adults facing dual diagnoses, substance use, trauma-related concerns, and complex life stressors. Much of my work centers on individuals impacted by childhood trauma, domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, and work-related trauma.
I earned my master’s degree in community mental health from Southern New Hampshire University. My approach is person-centered and collaborative, focusing on the present moment and what you need most right now. I integrate trauma-informed care, emphasizing safety, stability, empowerment, and practical coping strategies that support lasting change.
Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted, often struggling with sleep, daily functioning, and relationships. You do not have to navigate this alone. Together, we can move at a pace that feels safe and manageable while building stability, healthier coping skills, and meaningful progress. When you are ready, I invite you to take the next step and schedule an appointment.

I help clients navigate life’s toughest transitions with clarity and resilience, drawing from my own journey of rebuilding after a life-changing accident and discovering the strength that grows through adversity.
I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with 8 years of clinical experience and a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. As an Air Force Veteran and former locomotive engineer who rebuilt after a life-changing occupational incident, I work with adults in high-stress, high-stakes careers — Veterans, first responders, transportation workers, and professionals navigating trauma, burnout, grief, or major life transitions, and seeking clarity, stability, and direction.
My approach is trauma-informed, direct, and practical. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based tools, and motivational interviewing to help clients process what they've carried, build effective coping strategies, and regain a sense of control. Expect a calm, collaborative space and steady forward movement at your pace.
Reaching out is often the hardest part. Whatever you're carrying right now, you don't have to figure it out alone. When you're ready, I'm here to help you move forward with clarity, steadiness, and a plan that fits your life. Take the next step when the timing is right for you.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

My go-to approach for grief and loss counseling is to first start creating a safe place to process the loss and grief that you may be experiencing. In therapy, I will use a combination of tools and techniques to help you work through grief. I will use CBT techniques to work on the negative thoughts accompanying the grief and target any behaviors that are involved. We will start to develop a new narrative about the loss that you are experiencing.
Tools that we will focus on in grief and loss therapy:
I know a client is starting to make meaningful progress in grief and loss counseling when there are fewer negative thoughts and feelings about the loss. I will see that the client dwells less on the situation and rather starts accepting the loss.
In their personal time, clients can supplement counseling by making sure they are taking care of themselves. Practicing healthy sleep habits, engaging in routines, setting themselves up for successful days, and being active in activities that they enjoy are all great ways to practice this. I tell everyone to start off small—we all have 10 minutes where we can do something healthy or beneficial for us.
There is no need to prepare for grief and loss counseling—simply show up with an open mind. Allow yourself to engage with your therapist and be open with the experiences and feelings you are having.
Grief and loss counseling helps people grieve difficult losses including the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the end of a relationship. It helps people navigate their grief process and eventually accept, understand, and move forward from their loss. Thriveworks grief therapists in Charleston, SC have specific experience, training, and skills that enable them to best support grieving individuals.
Grief and loss counseling isn’t one-size-fits-all, but it involves sharing about your loss and then working with your counselor to acknowledge and accept your new reality in its wake. Your provider at Thriveworks in Charleston, SC will design your treatment plan around your unique needs and goals for therapy, applying the counseling techniques that best support them.
If you have recently experienced an event like the death of a loved one, a breakup or divorce, the loss of a job, or another major life change, then you may want to seek grief and loss counseling. Grief can be caused by many experiences and events, so if you feel that you are having trouble moving on from a certain event or find that it is still impacting your life and functioning, grief and loss counseling can help you process it more effectively so that you can move on and once again find fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
There are many counseling theories for treating grief, one of the most frequently used being the dual process model of grief which helps people acknowledge who or what they’ve lost through rumination while also adjusting to the new roles and identities that this loss has now placed on them. There are also many commonly used therapy approaches used in grief and loss counseling, including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and traumatic grief therapy.
Grief & loss counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
For many, grief and loss counseling lasts for about 6 months. For others, it may last shorter or longer, depending on the severity of their loss and their grief.
